KYLE PERKINS, senior member of the group is a resident of Somerset, KY joining the LARRY STEPHENSON BAND playing the upright bass, making his debut at the Grand Ole Opry in September 2006. Kyle is one of the youngest members of the group, but doesn't sound like a young player by any means, with his great timing and tone. The LSB is very proud to have him as part of their prestigious ensemble. Kyle comes from a strong background of pickers including his father, who is the sole teacher behind his rock-solid playing, and his grandfather who has been a bluegrass performer for over 60 years, influencing his style. Kyle has already proven to be one of the best musicians around even at this early stage in his career by performing with such groups as David Parmley & Continental Divide, Randy Kohrs, and Gary Brewer. Some of Kyle's inspirations to be a better bluegrass musician are: Sammy Shelor, Elmer Burchett, Wayne Fields, Mike Anglin, Ronald Mosley, Tim Caudill, Randall Barnes, David Parmley, Randy Graham, Dale Perry, Larry Stephenson and the boys & girl, and of course, his family. Off the road, Kyle enjoys fishing, riding four-wheelers, playing pool, spending time with his girlfriend and giving lessons as he is also an accomplished banjo player. Kyle is destined to be one of the best in the business. Back to Top |

KEVIN RICHARDSON of Seagrove, NC, joined and made his great addition to the LARRY STEPHENSON BAND in August 2008. He is an accomplished musician/singer/songwriter and guitarist who began playing at age five. And won numerous awards in North Carolina at a young age, placing him at age nine playing in his first band, "220 Connection". In 2000 "Southern Drive" entered and won the Pizza Hut International Showdown in Kentucky, after which later brought him to discussions with Lou Reid to bring Lou’s band "Carolina" back to the forefront of bluegrass. Kevin made his home for the next six years with "Lou Reid & Carolina" chart-topping during his tenure. Kevin is not even thirty years old yet, and has been touring the Bluegrass circuit for almost twenty! You could say he was born to play and sing. He has had the pleasure of playing top venues in the US and Canada, such as the Birchmere and the Grand Ole Opry, while performing with such other artists as: The Seldom Scene, Ricky Skaggs, James King, Bobby Hicks, Randy Khors, Little Roy Lewis, The Schankman Twins, Gena Britt, and Bradley Walker. The LARRY STEPHENSON BAND is happy to boast Kevin's position with the group and looks forward to a relationship providing great music on stages abroad for many years. His harmony and playing fit right in with what the group always tries to provide to their audiences, which is straight forward traditional/ contemporary bluegrass and gospel at it's best. KENNY INGRAM started his new endeavors with LARRY STEPHENSON at the top of the New Year 01-01-2009. He began playing banjo at age 12. He first became interested in playing banjo by watching the Flatt & Scruggs TV show. This interest lead to his parents purchasing him his first banjo. As a teenager he played dances in and around Dickson, TN. Then his first professional job was with James Monroe and The Midnight Ramblers, bringing him to May of 1972 where he began playing with Jimmy Martin and The Sunny Mountain Boys. Later, in October of 1973 he went to work with Lester Flatt & The Nashville Grass, which would gain him world acclaim from their appearances each week day morning on The Martha White Show broadcast on WSM radio in Tennessee. Afterwards, Kenny was led to rejoin Jimmy Martin in June 1978 and remained a band member until 1980. During the years, 1981 - 1986 he then worked with Curly Seckler, a former band member of Lester Flatt's who had taken over as bandleader of the former Lester Flatt band. Kenny went on to play locally with friends and at church functions during 1986 -2001 where he enjoyed being at home off the road, spending time with his wife Kaye and children; Kenneth Michael, Mary and Laura. But found himself in November 2001 returning to the road and touring with Rhonda Vincent's stage band, the Rage. This of course has led him to now tour with the award winning LARRY STEPHENSON BAND. Kenny stated "this is an exciting time, and I'm looking forward to playing with LARRY STEPHENSON and the group". The band is also thrilled to have this wonderful addition and welcomes Kenny's trade-mark hard driving style on banjo and his great vocals. Be on the listen for those wonderful quartets the band has to offer. Back to Top |
