LARRY STEPHENSON BAND
Banjo & Vocals
Kenny Ingram started
his new endeavors with Larry Stephenson at the top of the New Year on
January 1, 2009. Having been inspired to learn the banjo by watching the
Flatt & Scruggs TV show at the age of 12, his parents purchased him his
first banjo. As a teenager he played dances in and around Dickson, TN
before landing his first professional job with James Monroe and The
In May of 1972, he joined Jimmy Martin and The Sunny Mountain Boys. Late in October of 1973, Kenny he went to work with Lester Flatt & The Nashville Grass that gained him world acclaim from their appearances each week day morning on The Martha White Show broadcast on WSM radio in Tennessee. Kenny rejoined Jimmy Martin in June 1978 and remained a band member until 1980. During1981 – 1986, he then worked with Curly Seckler, a former band member of Lester Flatt's who had taken over as bandleader of the former Lester Flatt band.
Kenny went on to play locally with friends and at church functions during 1986 -2001 where he enjoyed being at home off the road, spending time with his wife Kaye and children; Kenneth Michael, Mary and Laura. In November 2001, Kenny returned to the road touring with Rhonda Vincent's stage band, the Rage. This of course has led him to now tour with the award-winning Larry Stephenson Band. Kenny stated, "this is an exciting time, and I'm looking forward to playing with Larry and the group." The band is also thrilled to have this wonderful addition and welcomes Kenny's trademark hard driving style on banjo and his great vocals. Be on the listen for those wonderful quartets the band has to offer.

originally from Seagrove, North Carolina, is now residing with his family
in Asheboro, NC. He originally joined the Larry Stephenson Band in August
2008. After a 4-year tenure with LSB, he left the band to follow other
endeavors and is now back with the group lending his fresh vocals and

songwriter and guitarist who began playing at age five. Winning numerous
awards in North Carolina at a young age, placed Kevin as a 9-year old boy

won the Pizza Hut International Showdown in Kentucky, after which later
brought him to discussions with Lou Reid to bring Lou’s band "Carolina"
back to the forefront of bluegrass. Kevin made his home for the next six
years with "Lou Reid & Carolina" chart-topping during his tenure before
taking the LSB position in 2008. While still under the ripe age of 30, he
has now toured the bluegrass circuit for almost 20 years! You could say he
was born to play and sing.
Kevin has performed at some of the top venues
in the US and Canada, such as the Birchmere and the Grand Ole Opry, while
recording and touring with such other artists as: The Seldom Scene, Ricky
Skaggs, James King, Bobby Hicks, Randy Kohrs, Little Roy Lewis, The

Upright Bass & Vocals
Matt Wright, the newest and
youngest addition to the Larry Stephenson Band, is originally from and
still resides in the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains in Waynesville,
North Carolina. He played his first gig with LSB in June of 2014 debuting
at the Bill Monroe Bluegrass Festival in Bean Blossom, Indiana.
Matt has been tapping his foot to the doghouse bass since he was a youngster and at the ripe age of 5, he followed in his brother's footsteps by learning the fiddle. He later picked up the bass and fell in love. After a stint with a local band and attending weekly jam sessions, he joined his first regional band, The Hominy Valley Boys at the tender young age of 9 where he spent his teenage years from 2003 - 2012.
To further his knowledge of bluegrass music, Matt entered the Bluegrass, Old-Time and Country Music Program at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in Johnson City, TN in 2011. He has been a part three college bands and is now a senior in the program as of the 2014/2015 school year. Matt is enjoying his new full-time position with the Larry Stephenson Band. "I'm very honored to be playing alongside such legends and such great people. I hope to continue musical endeavors with the LSB for years to come." Check him out at a show near you. He's the one tucked in behind.
